Sony PRS-950 Firmware Update


I received an email this morning from Sony about new firmware for the PRS-950 Daily Edition.

The update will not be pushed over 3G so you either have to download it using the Daily Edition’s WiFi or download the firmware to your computer from the Sony support page to update manually.

Nook Color Cases and Covers


Looking for a cover for your new shiny Nook Color? Me too. I decided it was time to start searching for a cover today and figured I might as well build a page while I’m at it that lists a bunch of covers and cases from various websites.

So here it is, the Nook Color Covers, Cases, and Skins page.

The Nook Color has only been out for about a month so not all the popular brands are available just yet—M-Edge, JAVOedge, CaseCrown, etc—so I’ll have to add some of those to the page once they get released.

MegaReader iOS eBook Reader Gets Update


MegaReader is an ebook reading application for iPhone and iPad that just got updated to add some new features.

The most notable updates include adding iPad universal app support, multi-column support for Apple iPad, and integration with Instapaper 2.3.3, which allows you to read Instapaper articles in MegaReader.

E Ink’s Pearl Displays are Winning Awards


E Ink, the company that makes the screens for the majority of dedicated ebook readers, announced today that their new Pearl displays have won the Best Commercialization Award at the fourth annual IDTechEx Printed Electronics Awards.

This marks the second award this month. On December 1st E Ink announced that their Pearl display were selected to appear in Popular Science’s December issue for their annual Best of What’s New awards for

The Kindle’s First Interactive eBook – Dusk World


Amazon released a new interactive ebook a couple of days ago, the first of its kind, called Dusk World.

It’s a blend between a choose your own adventure book, a comic book, and in some strange way a little like a role-playing game.

The WikiReader Becomes eBook Reader with 33,000 eBooks


The WikiReader, a small handheld device that contains more than three million Wikipedia articles, just got an update to add the entire Project Gutenberg library of ebooks.

The update can be downloaded and added to the WikiReader by visiting the official WikiReader website, or you can sign up to have the update mailed to your house since the device is designed for those that don’t have access to the internet.

Nextbook Launches 8.4″ Next3 Android Tablet with Borders eBook App


A new Android-powered ereader/tablet combination was released today called the Next3, a WiFi-equipped touchscreen-enabled device that ties in with the Borders ebook store.

The Next3 is selling from HSN for an introductory price of $199 and is expected to hit retail stores (presumably Borders) soon.
